POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A Frostproof woman is back in jail after leading Polk County Sheriff’s deputies on a chase Thursday evening. This isn’t her first time fleeing from law enforcement, either.
Around 5:09 p.m. on Thursday, March 6th, a deputy attempted to stop a silver Ford Mustang driven by 35-year-old Kristin Ann Mittelstadt on Masterpiece Road in Lake Wales. Mittelstadt refused to stop and fled from the deputy.

Due to her reckless driving, a deputy performed a PIT maneuver to safely immobilize her vehicle and end the pursuit.
Mittelstadt was arrested and transported to the Polk County Jail. She was charged with:
- Fleeing to Elude
- Possession of Methamphetamine
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Knowingly Driving While License Suspended/Revoked (her license was revoked in 2009)

During questioning, Mittelstadt admitted that she fled because she knew she would likely face a lengthy jail sentence if caught. This is likely due to the fact that she was already out on bond for – believe it or not – Fleeing to Elude and Knowingly Driving While License Suspended/Revoked.
This incident highlights the dangers of fleeing from law enforcement and the persistence of Polk County Sheriff’s deputies in apprehending those who attempt to evade justice.
