TAMPA, Fla. – A three-alarm fire broke out at a high-rise building under construction in Midtown Tampa early Thursday morning, prompting a large response from Tampa Fire Rescue.
The fire was reported around 6:40 a.m. at 1204 N. Himes Avenue. Firefighters arrived to find smoke billowing from the 19th floor of the commercial structure. A third alarm was quickly called, bringing additional resources and personnel to the scene.

Fortunately, construction crews working inside the building had already evacuated before firefighters arrived. Crews were able to contain the fire to the 19th floor and extinguish it within 20 minutes.
There were no injuries reported to either civilians or firefighters.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Tampa Fire Marshal’s Office.
