TAMPA, Fla. – A pedestrian was seriously injured Tuesday night after being struck by a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office vehicle.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 9:04 p.m. on Memorial Highway near the intersection of Hillsborough Avenue. A 26-year-old Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputy was driving a marked Chevy Tahoe eastbound on Hillsborough Avenue before turning south onto Memorial Highway.

A 30-year-old male pedestrian crossed the highway and walked into the path of the oncoming patrol vehicle.
The deputy immediately stopped and provided aid to the injured pedestrian. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
