TAMPA, Fla. – A much-anticipated date on the USF athletics calendar gets underway at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Red McEwen Field when the Bulls face No. 9 Florida State. An hour later across Elm Drive, the women’s lacrosse team attempts to continue what has been a perfect start to its inaugural season when No. 6 Florida visits Corbett Stadium.
Two-sport athlete Bryce Archie takes the mound for the Bulls, who took two of three from Iowa in their season-opening weekend series. It was less than two months ago when the quarterback threw for 235 yards in helping lead USF to a five-overtime win against San Jose State in the Hawaii Bowl. With the baseball team a year ago, Archie made 13 appearances, including three starts.
