An 18-year-old transgender teenager has been arrested in Indiana for allegedly plotting a mass shooting at Mooresville High School.
According to court records and a police report, Trinity Shockley, who went by the username “Jamie” on Discord, allegedly discussed her plans to attack Mooresville High School with other users.
In one exchange, Shockley reportedly wrote, “I’ll be honest. I’m close to shooting [my school] up. I have an AR-15.” Another user responded, “That’s so cool!! But wait, do you have a solid plan??” and later added, “Kids are awful. And if you do carry it out, good luck.”

Shockley also allegedly shared a photo of a bulletproof vest, to which a user replied, “you’re gonna look great.” These conversations, along with an anonymous tip, prompted the FBI to investigate and alert local authorities, leading to Shockley’s arrest.
Police reports reveal that Shockley had an alarming fascination with notorious mass shooters. She allegedly told a school counselor about her obsession with Nikolas Cruz, the perpetrator of the 2018 Parkland school shooting, and showed the counselor a locket with Cruz’s face on it, claiming to be in love with him.
Shockley also expressed admiration for other shooters, including Andrew Blaze, Elliot Rodger, Ethan Crumbley, and white supremacist Dylan Roof.

Authorities found three journals in Shockley’s home filled with violent and hateful writings. “Each notebook depicted swastikas, the words ‘kill,’ ‘bang,’ ‘I hate you all DIE DIE DIE,’ among other obscenities,” the police report stated. Shockley also wrote about being a victim of bullying at school, describing her peers as “a [waste] of life.”
Shockley had previously sought mental health resources at her school and “expressed suicidal ideation in the past,” according to the police report. She also disclosed her struggles with identity and mental health in her journals, writing, “I currently live with my father, my mother passed away. I am [also] a transgender male. I have a lot of homicidal thoughts.”

Despite these red flags, Shockley’s alleged plans were only uncovered after the FBI received an anonymous tip about her Discord activity. The case highlights the challenges schools and law enforcement face in identifying and intervening with at-risk individuals before they act on violent impulses.
Shockley is charged with conspiracy to commit murder and making terrorist threats. She is currently being held without bond, and her court-appointed attorney has not yet commented on the case.
