U.S. District Judge Roy B. Dalton, Jr. has sentenced 19-year-old Jeremiah Cundiff of Orlando to one year and six months in federal prison for possessing a machinegun. Cundiff pleaded guilty to the charges on October 31, 2024, following an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
According to court documents, the case began on October 23, 2023, when law enforcement officers apprehended Cundiff, who had an active warrant for his arrest.

During the arrest, Cundiff attempted to flee and made a furtive movement in the area where officers later recovered a loaded firearm equipped with a machinegun conversion device, commonly referred to as a “switch.” Forensic analysis confirmed that Cundiff’s DNA was present on the firearm.
The conversion device, designed to transform a semiautomatic pistol into a fully automatic machinegun, allows the weapon to fire multiple rounds with a single pull of the trigger.
Such devices are highly illegal and pose significant risks to public safety due to their ability to dramatically increase a firearm’s rate of fire.
