U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers seized over $1.3 million worth of cocaine in two separate incidents at the Hidalgo and Anzalduas International Bridges in Texas.
“Our CBP officers intercepted back-to-back narcotics just one day apart, illustrating the relentless work being done at our international crossings,” said Port Director Carlos Rodriguez, Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas Port of Entry.

On February 7th, CBP officers at the Anzalduas International Bridge encountered a black GMC SUV entering from Mexico. After a thorough inspection, including the use of non-intrusive inspection equipment and a canine team, officers discovered 14 packages of cocaine concealed within the vehicle.
The cocaine weighed a total of 25.48 pounds (11.56 kg). The driver, narcotics, and vehicle were turned over to the Hidalgo Police Department for further investigation.

The following day, at the Hidalgo International Bridge, CBP officers inspected a silver Dodge SUV entering from Mexico. Again utilizing non-intrusive inspection equipment and a canine team, officers found 29 packages of cocaine hidden within the vehicle, weighing a total of 74.03 pounds (33.58 kg).
CBP seized the narcotics and the vehicle, and Homeland Security Investigations initiated a criminal investigation.
