POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A Davenport man was arrested Tuesday evening for allegedly stealing sod from a residential construction site. Jamie Robert Zenn, 57, was taken into custody by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) and charged with grand theft, trespassing, and resisting arrest.
According to the PCSO, deputies responded to a call at approximately 6:37 p.m. regarding a suspicious person at a construction site in Davenport.

A witness reported seeing a man loading pieces of sod into a silver 2023 Nissan Altima. The witness followed the vehicle and provided deputies with a detailed description of the suspect, the car’s tag number, and the address where the suspect parked.
Upon arriving at the residence on Camden Way, a deputy located the Nissan and a wheelbarrow containing sod.

The suspect, identified as Zenn, was found at the residence and admitted to taking 16 pieces of sod. He claimed he did not see any “No Trespassing” signs posted at the construction site.
When informed that he was being arrested, Zenn attempted to retreat into the house but was apprehended by the deputy. He was transported to the Polk County Jail.
