SARASOTA, Fla. – Tragedy struck in Sarasota on Monday night when a vehicle struck three pedestrians, resulting in the deaths of two young children and leaving a woman critically injured. The Sarasota Police Department is now searching for the driver responsible for this devastating hit-and-run.

The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. near the intersection of SR 683 (North Washington/301) and 7th Street. The victims, a 29-year-old woman, a 2-year-old child, and a 5-month-old infant, were transported to area hospitals under trauma alerts. Sadly, both children succumbed to their injuries. The woman remains hospitalized in critical condition.

The vehicle involved is described as a white 2013-2018 Lexus ES300 with damage to the right front quarter panel and windshield. It was last seen fleeing the scene southbound on SR 683, making a U-turn near 5th Street and then turning eastbound in the area of 7th Street.

The SPD Traffic Unit is actively investigating the crash. Anyone with information about the vehicle or driver is urged to contact the Sarasota Police Department Traffic Unit at 941-263-6094.
