RUSKIN, Fla. – The Florida Department of Health in Hillsborough County (DOH-Hillsborough) has issued a water quality advisory for Simmons Park Beach in Ruskin.

Water samples collected on Wednesday, February 5th, 2025, revealed elevated levels of Enterococcus bacteria, exceeding the recreational water quality standards set by the Florida Department of Health. This indicates an increased risk of illness for swimmers.

DOH-Hillsborough is advising the public to refrain from water-related activities at Simmons Park Beach until further notice. The advisory will remain in effect until bacteria levels return to acceptable levels.
