RIVERVIEW, Fla. – Two teenagers were arrested early Tuesday morning after a vehicle pursuit that began in a Hillsborough County neighborhood and ended in a field.
At approximately 2:53 a.m., the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Aviation Section responded to the area of Fairway Meadow Drive and Jessup Watch Place following reports of a vehicle burglary. Aviation units spotted a suspicious vehicle leaving the neighborhood and alerted ground units.

Deputies determined that the vehicle had been reported stolen. With assistance from the Florida Highway Patrol, they attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled. The Aviation Section followed the vehicle as it drove into a field, where the occupants abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.
Aviation units guided deputies to the driver, 16-year-old Nykius Pryor. A search of the area led to the apprehension of another suspect, 16-year-old Jayden Johnson, who admitted to stealing the vehicle the previous day.

“The quick and vigilant work of our Aviation Section and ground units led to the arrest of these criminals,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “We will continue to work together with other agencies to keep our community safe.”
Pryor is charged with Fleeing to Elude at High Speed, having No Valid Driver’s License, a Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle, and Resisting an Officer without Violence. Johnson is charged with Grand Theft Motor Vehicle and Resisting an Officer without Violence.
