Fatal Crash In Sumter County: Webster Man Killed After Dump Truck Runs Stop Sign

SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. – A 45-year-old Webster man was killed in a crash early this morning in Sumter County. The crash occurred at the intersection of County Road 476 and State Road 471 at approximately 5:37 AM.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a dump truck driven by a 63-year-old Floral City man was traveling eastbound on CR-476. A Chevy van, driven by the Webster man, was traveling northbound on SR-471.

The driver of the dump truck failed to stop at a posted stop sign and entered the intersection, where the two vehicles collided.

The driver of the Chevy van was transported to an area hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The driver of the dump truck was uninjured.

The crash remains under investigation.
