Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost has filed a lawsuit against a Dayton resident and a cemetery association for allegedly defrauding customers by accepting payments for grave markers and failing to deliver them.

The lawsuit in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court targets Trevor Bush and the Harrison Township Cemetery Association, which operates as “Greencastle Cemetery.”

According to the lawsuit, Bush and the cemetery association entered into contracts with consumers for grave markers, requiring significant upfront payments. Despite promises of delivery within a few months, many orders were not fulfilled, leaving grieving families without the headstones they paid for.

“Losing a loved one is hard enough without having to fight to get what you paid for,” Attorney General Yost said. “Any business that operates so deceptively deserves legal consequences.”

The lawsuit seeks restitution for affected consumers and civil penalties for violations of Ohio’s Consumer Sales Practices Act. The Attorney General’s Office is encouraging anyone who may have had similar experiences with Bush or the Harrison Township Cemetery Association to file a complaint online at www.OhioProtects.org or by calling 1-800-282-0515.
