TAMPA, Fla. – Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputies swiftly responded to a stolen firearm report Monday that led to the arrest of a convicted felon near Adamo Drive in Tampa.

According to the victim, 22-year-old Elijah Wilson stole her firearm and fled after she gave him a ride. Deputies tracked Wilson to his residence near the scene, but he attempted to evade capture. As deputies approached, Wilson slammed the front door, striking one officer, before fleeing out the back.

The HCSO K9 Section quickly joined the search, locating Wilson hiding in a nearby shed. He was apprehended without further incident, and the stolen firearm was recovered in the area.

Wilson, who has a prior felony record, now faces multiple charges, including Grand Theft of a Firearm, Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

“Thanks to our deputies’ bravery and swift response, a dangerous situation was quickly brought under control,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “Their dedication and teamwork ensured the recovery of a stolen firearm and the arrest of a convicted felon, keeping our community safe.”
