White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt spoke with reporters outside the White House on Wednesday, highlighting President Donald Trump’s recent executive orders on border security and responding to questions regarding Elon Musk’s remarks on the administration’s artificial intelligence (AI) policies.

Leavitt emphasized President Trump’s commitment to securing the U.S.-Mexico border, citing an executive order signed on Monday that deploys an additional 1,500 active-duty troops to the southern border.

“President Trump signed an executive order – 1,500 additional troops to the United States southern border,” Leavitt said. “This follows his day-one action to direct the Department of Defense to make homeland security a core mission of the agency. This is something President Trump campaigned on, and the American people have been waiting for such a time as this – for our Department of Defense to actually take homeland security seriously.”

Leavitt underscored the importance of the order, calling border security the “number one priority” for the American public and stating that the president has “already delivered” on his campaign promise.

Speaking further on the administration’s immigration policies, Leavitt reinforced the president’s hardline stance on deportations.

“Securing the border and deporting illegal immigrants from this country is a top priority,” she stated. “President Trump is sending a very strong message to people around this world – if you are thinking about breaking the laws of the United States of America, you will be returned home. You will be arrested. You will be prosecuted.”

The announcement follows Trump’s broader immigration agenda, which includes the restoration of expedited deportation processes and heightened cooperation between federal and local enforcement agencies.

When asked about Elon Musk’s recent comments on President Trump’s AI policies, Leavitt remained brief, directing reporters to her recent appearance on Fox News.

“I just spoke about it on Fox,” she said without elaborating further. Musk, a vocal advocate for AI regulation, has previously expressed concerns about government oversight and the potential implications of new policies on innovation and competition.
