HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – Hillsborough County Administrator Bonnie Wise has extended the state of local emergency initially declared in October 2024 due to Hurricane Milton. The extension, signed on January 12th, 2025, will remain in effect until January 19th, 2025.
The state of local emergency grants the County Administrator and emergency managers the authority to swiftly implement actions to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the community. It also paves the way for potential federal reimbursement of expenses incurred in response to the hurricane.
Although Hurricane Milton did not directly impact Hillsborough County, the extended state of emergency allows the county to continue its recovery efforts and address any lingering consequences of the storm. This includes providing support to residents and businesses affected by the hurricane and ensuring the continued availability of resources for those in need.
