PALM HARBOR, Fla. – A 44-year-old man has died after being struck by an SUV while attempting to cross Tampa Road early Wednesday morning.
The accident occurred around 6:30 AM, west of US-19. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a Hyundai SUV driven by a 41-year-old woman from Palm Harbor was traveling eastbound on Tampa Road when the pedestrian stepped into the roadway, directly into the path of the oncoming vehicle.

The pedestrian, also a Palm Harbor resident, was transported to a local hospital but later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the SUV was not injured in the crash.
