MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – Motorists in the Florida Keys should be aware of potential traffic delays and rolling lane closures this weekend due to the Wounded Warrior Project Soldier Ride.
The annual event, which honors and empowers injured veterans, will take place on Friday, January 10th, and Saturday, January 11th, throughout the Florida Keys.
U.S. 1 will remain open during the event, but motorists should expect increased traffic and potential delays, especially during the scheduled ride times. Rolling lane closures may be implemented to ensure the safety of the riders.
Soldier Ride Schedule
- Friday, January 10th:
- 8:30 AM: Ride departs Key Largo VFW Post 10211, heading south on U.S. 1.
- 9:30 AM: Water stop at Coral Shores High School in Tavernier.
- 10:30 AM: Upper Keys ride ends at Three Waters Resort & Marina in Islamorada.
- 1:30 PM: Marathon ride departs Marathon Fire Station, heading south on U.S. 1 over the Seven Mile Bridge.
- 2:30 PM: Marathon ride ends at Veterans Memorial Beach.
- Saturday, January 11th:
- 10:30 AM: Ride departs U.S. Naval Air Station Key West, heading south on U.S. 1 through Key West.
- 12:00 PM: Welcome ceremony at Bayview Park.
- 12:45 PM: Community Ride begins at Bayview Park.
- 2:00 PM: Community Ride ends at Bayview Park.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to come out and show their support for the Wounded Warrior Project and the participating veterans. The Community Ride on Saturday is open to the public, with a suggested $20 donation. Participants are encouraged to decorate their bikes.

Traffic Considerations
Motorists are advised to plan for extra travel time, exercise caution, and be aware of cyclists on the road. Special attention should be paid to the Seven Mile Bridge ride on Friday afternoon, as traffic may be impacted.
