Hillsborough County Seeks Nominations For Environmental Conservation Award

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – Hillsborough County is calling on its residents to nominate individuals or groups who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to protecting the environment for the prestigious Theodore Roosevelt Hillsborough Forever Conservation Award.

This annual award recognizes those who have made significant contributions to preserving the county’s natural resources. It is named in honor of President Theodore Roosevelt, a renowned conservationist who placed millions of acres under public protection during his presidency.

Nominees must currently live or work in Hillsborough County, or have done so during the time of their environmental achievements. The ideal candidate will be someone who:

  • Shows persistence and dedication to long-term conservation efforts.
  • Demonstrates integrity in pursuing conservation goals.
  • Exemplifies true conservation stewardship.

Nominations will be reviewed by the Jan K. Platt Environmental Lands Acquisition and Protection Program General Committee. The committee will then submit a recommendation to the Board of County Commissioners for final approval.

The award ceremony will be held in the spring to coincide with National Arbor Day.
