Incoming Border czar Tom Homan called out Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett of Texas Monday, saying she was “not real smart” on issues involving the border.
President-elect Donald Trump named Homan as his border czar Nov. 11, placing the former acting head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement in charge of efforts to control illegal immigration. Homan was asked to respond to Crocket’s claim during a MSNBC appearance that he “doesn’t know what he’s doing” when it came to enforcing immigration laws.

“Tom, just to go through some of your background, a border patrol agent, an investigator, a special agent, supervisor special agent, assistant director of investigations,” guest co-host of “Wake Up America” Christina Thompson asked Homan. “I mean, the list goes on and on. You are so beyond qualified. What’s your response to that?”
“Well, look, I forgot more about this issue than she’ll ever know. I mean, for God’s sakes, I’ve been doing it 34 years, but look, there has been a rude awakening. A rude awakening was in November at the election,” Homan said. “There was a rude awakening that American people are sick of the open border. American people are sick of crime in this country.”
Several crimes have been committed by individuals illegally residing in the U.S. Most recently, Sebastin Zapeta, a 33-year-old Guatemalan illegal migrant previously deported by the Trump administration, was indicted Friday on first and second degree murder charges after being arrested on Dec. 22 in connection to the death of a woman who was burned alive while on the New York City subway.
“I mean, how many young women had to be raped and murdered and burned alive?” Homan asked. “How many MS-13 and Tren de Aragua had to be in our major cities committing crimes against U.S. citizens? How many angel moms and dads do we have to have in this country that lost their children at the hands of somebody that wasn’t supposed to be there and then buried their children when I talk about family separation?”

Homan later said that detaining families was the opposite of separating them.
“So look, I don’t know who this lady is,” Homan said about Crockett. “Apparently she’s not real smart.”
The Border Patrol encountered over 7.4 million illegal immigrants since the start of fiscal year 2021, according to figures released by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). Under President Joe Biden, the U.S. saw a net migration of about 2.4 million people per year, the largest surge of immigration in U.S. history.
