PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – A 62-year-old Palm Harbor man was transported to the hospital on Sunday morning after a crash that may have been caused by a medical emergency.

The incident occurred around 11:43 AM on Alderman Road near Belcher Road. According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the man was driving an Infiniti sedan eastbound on Alderman Road when he experienced a possible medical episode.

The driver lost control of the vehicle and sideswiped a Ford sedan that was stopped in the left turn lane at Belcher Road. The Infiniti then veered onto the northeast shoulder of the road, continuing eastbound until it collided with a tree.

The driver of the Infiniti was transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation and treatment. The driver and passenger of the Ford sedan were uninjured.

The names of those involved in the crash have not been released.
