Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Wilton Simpson has issued Emergency Order 2024-CHRISTMAS, clearing the way for Santa Claus and his team of reindeer to bring holiday magic to children across the Sunshine State. The annual order, a cherished tradition, ensures Santa faces no bureaucratic hurdles as he delivers toys, joy, and cheer to all 67 counties in Florida.
Commissioner Simpson emphasized Florida’s unique role in Santa’s Christmas journey, “Santa and I have had many conversations about how special Florida is during the holidays. From our farms to our beaches, we’re proud to be part of his Christmas journey each year.”

The emergency order, signed on December 24, 2024, outlines special accommodations for Santa’s visit:
- Animal Movement Waivers: Santa’s nine reindeer are exempt from Florida’s animal movement certification requirements.
- Inspection Bypasses: Santa is authorized to bypass all 23 agricultural inspection stations in the state.
- Sleigh Load Waivers: Weight and size restrictions on Santa’s magical sleigh are lifted, allowing him to transport presents, agricultural goods, and any essentials needed during his stay.
- Support from Agricultural Law Enforcement: The department’s law enforcement team, led by Colonel Lee “Justice Jingle” Adams Jr., is on standby to assist Santa.
- State Forest Access: Santa and his reindeer have free access to all Florida State Forests, with all fees and reservation requirements waived.
Floridians are encouraged to leave locally sourced Fresh From Florida treats for Santa and his reindeer to enjoy during their long journey.
In collaboration with Santa, Commissioner Simpson recently announced personalized Certificates of Clearance for Florida’s children, further spreading holiday cheer. These certificates are available online for families to download.
