TAMPA, Fla. – Kristina Lavallee, the nationally recognized baker behind The Cake Girl, has expanded her annual Fill the Van initiative to honor veterans this holiday season. Partnering with Liberty Manor for Veterans, an organization providing housing and support for homeless veterans in Tampa Bay, Kristina delivered essential supplies and gifts to those who have served our country.
Kristina, a recipient of the Department of Defense ESGR Patriot Award and an Honorary Commander at MacDill Air Force Base, arrived at Liberty Manor in a fully restored AM General HUMVEE. The HUMVEE, owned by military supporter Stephen Garcia, was loaded with over $1,000 worth of toiletries, cleaning supplies, and laundry detergent, along with $250 in gift cards for veterans to purchase additional necessities.
“Our veterans deserve our support not just during the holidays, but every day,” Kristina shared. “Through The Cake Girl, we’re committed to showing our gratitude to those who’ve served our country. It’s about honoring the military’s motto, ‘Leave no man behind.’”
Kristina’s Fill the Van initiative has become a Tampa Bay tradition, collecting toys and essential items for children and families in need. This year, she expanded the program to include veterans, a group often overlooked during the holidays.
The response has been overwhelming, with community members stepping up to support both children and veterans. “The generosity we’ve seen this year has been incredible,” Kristina said.
Kristina’s dedication to the military is deeply personal. As an Honorary Commander at MacDill Air Force Base, she regularly works with service members and veterans, and her recognition with the Patriot Award earlier this year highlights her commitment to giving back.
Her support doesn’t stop with veterans. Throughout the year, The Cake Girl surprises children, foster families, military families, and first responders with sweet treats and essential items, making a lasting impact in Tampa Bay.
Liberty Manor, located at 10015 N. 9th St., Tampa, focuses on providing stability and support to homeless veterans, aligning perfectly with Kristina’s mission to uplift those in need.
While the HUMVEE delivery was a highlight of the season, Kristina has more surprises planned. From special drop-offs for foster families to year-round community initiatives, her commitment to spreading kindness and cheer continues to make her a true champion for Tampa Bay.
