A U.S. Marine Corps CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter made an emergency landing near Camp Pendleton on Friday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 4 p.m. local time when the helicopter experienced an engine fire mid-flight.

According to police, the crew successfully executed emergency procedures and landed the aircraft safely along the northbound side Interstate 5 near the Aliso Creek Rest Area.

All four crew members were reported to be unharmed.

Local and Marine Corps emergency responders were dispatched to the scene to extinguish the fire and assess the situation.
