With the clock ticking down to a midnight deadline, House Republicans are scrambling to finalize a deal that would prevent a government shutdown. Lawmakers are working late into the night to craft a package of bills designed to keep the government funded and address key priorities.

Sources indicate that Republican House leaders are preparing to present three key bills as part of the agreement.

A Clean Continuing Resolution (CR): This measure would temporarily extend government funding without including additional policy provisions, providing a short-term solution while avoiding a lengthy omnibus bill.

Disaster Relief Funding: A bill to allocate resources for disaster recovery efforts.

Farm Aid Bill: Legislation aimed at providing critical support for farmers.

Additionally, the package reportedly includes a handshake agreement to address broader fiscal issues, including the debt limit and future spending cuts.

With just hours remaining, lawmakers are under immense pressure to secure bipartisan support for the measures. One Republican source indicated they are prepared to work through the night to finalize the deal.

“We expect to be here all night long,” the lawmaker said. “We will get it done.”

Failure to pass the proposed measures by 11:59 p.m. would result in a partial government shutdown, impacting federal employees, contractors, and public services nationwide.

While the clean CR offers a stopgap solution, it may face opposition from both sides of the aisle. Some conservatives have criticized continuing resolutions as temporary fixes that delay addressing long-term fiscal issues.

On the other hand, Democrats have voiced concerns about the lack of comprehensive funding agreements, particularly following their recent push for an omnibus package earlier in the week.

The next few hours will determine whether Congress can bridge the divide and avoid a shutdown.
