POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A routine patrol on Sunday morning, led to the arrest of 23-year-old Lars Rian of Lake Wales on multiple charges, including DUI and drug possession. The incident unfolded around 9:25 a.m. when a Polk County Sheriff’s deputy encountered a Ford pickup truck partially blocking the roadway near Scenic Highway and J Zoffay Road.
The truck was idling with its brake lights engaged, and Rian was found asleep behind the steering wheel. After waking him, the deputy requested his driver’s license, vehicle registration, and proof of insurance. Rian was only able to provide his license.

The vehicle was unregistered, lacked valid insurance, and displayed a license plate that was not assigned to the truck.
The deputy observed that Rian had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and was unsteady on his feet. A field sobriety test was conducted, which Rian failed. He admitted to having smoked marijuana mixed with cocaine earlier that morning.
A search of the vehicle revealed two baggies containing a substance that tested positive for marijuana. Rian was taken into custody and charged with DUI, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, driving an unregistered vehicle, and attaching an unassigned tag.

Rian was transported to the Polk County Jail, and additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigation continues.
