Senator Blumenthal Calls for Federal Investigation
Senator Richard Blumenthal has expressed concern about the drone sightings and has requested a briefing from federal agencies, including the FAA, FBI, DHS, and DOD.
He emphasized the potential safety and security risks posed by these drones, particularly their ability to disrupt air traffic and potentially be used for malicious purposes.
“It is critical that the FAA take immediate and comprehensive action to ensure the safety of the airspace. I therefore request that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) provide briefing regarding a comprehensive plan, coordinated with interagency partners, on addressing these concerns. This briefing should cover all details available regarding these drones as to ownership, operation, impacts on aviation, national security, and privacy,” Blumenthal said.
Local Concerns and Public Response
Local officials, such as Senator Tony Hwang, have also voiced concerns about the unsettling nature of the drone sightings. The lack of information and the mysterious circumstances surrounding the drones have led to public anxiety and speculation.
