POLK COUNTY, Fla. – An 18-year-old with a string of alleged offenses was finally apprehended by Polk County Sheriff’s deputies on Tuesday, December 10th, following a month-long search.
Omar Sierra Jr. was already wanted for theft and assault stemming from a November 9th incident where he allegedly stole a mini-bike from a Frostproof residence. During the theft, Sierra reportedly threw sand in the victim’s eyes to escape.

On December 10th, deputies were investigating two car burglaries in Frostproof, one of which involved the theft of a Glock 9mm handgun. Their investigation pointed to Sierra as the suspect in these burglaries.
Determined to stop Sierra’s alleged crime spree, deputies converged on the Lakeview Park neighborhood. Around 3:30 PM, a deputy spotted Sierra on King Boulevard and placed him under arrest.
During the investigation, Sierra’s mother reportedly interfered, advising her son not to cooperate and refusing to allow detectives to search her home for the stolen firearm.

However, a search warrant was obtained, and the stolen gun was found in Sierra’s bedroom.
Sierra now faces a slew of charges, including:
- Armed Burglary of a Conveyance
- Grand Theft of a Firearm
- Burglary of a Conveyance
- Burglary with Assault
- Unarmed Burglary of a Dwelling
- Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle
- Tampering with Evidence
