This past weekend, the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), in a joint operation with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) and the Orlando Police Department (OPD), successfully thwarted a planned street takeover event in Orlando.

Utilizing ground and aerial resources, law enforcement agencies sent a strong message that illegal street racing and stunt driving will not be tolerated in Florida.

Authorities identified several locations where illegal gatherings were taking place. As smaller groups dispersed, a larger gathering materialized at an industrial warehouse complex off Emerald Dunes Drive.

Troopers and officers strategically managed access to the complex, enabling them to effectively enforce the law and issue citations to both participants and spectators.

Under Florida law, both participating in and spectating street takeovers are illegal activities.

By the end of the operation, law enforcement had issued a staggering 154 citations, 132 of which were for spectating. Additionally, there were 3 arrests, 2 criminal notices to appear, and multiple vehicles towed.

The FHP urges the public to remain vigilant and report any instances of street racing or stunt driving by calling *FHP or 911.
