POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A 29-year-old Auburndale man is behind bars after allegedly committing a burglary and then attempting to justify his actions with some creative legal interpretations.
Joshua Morgan was arrested on December 5th by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office following an investigation into a burglary that occurred on November 27th at the Happy Day Mobile Home & RV Park.
Witnesses reported seeing Morgan stealing several items, including a generator, a toolbox, and motorcycle parts. Detectives were able to track down individuals who had unknowingly purchased or helped transport the stolen goods.

When confronted with the evidence, Morgan initially denied being in the area and then admitted to being present but denied taking the toolbox. As more evidence was presented, he eventually confessed to taking the toolbox but claimed he believed it was abandoned.
Despite the overwhelming evidence against him, Morgan insisted he knew the law and hadn’t broken it. Unfortunately for Morgan, his understanding of the law proved to be incorrect.
Morgan was arrested and booked into the Polk County Jail on charges of burglary, petit theft, and dealing in stolen property.
