Governor Ron DeSantis Friday announced the appointment of Lindsey Brown and the reappointment of Maria Alba-Quesada and Meghan Collins to the Council for Early Grade Success.
The council plays a key role in shaping educational initiatives aimed at improving early-grade literacy and learning outcomes across Florida.
Lindsey Brown
Lindsey Brown currently serves as the Vice Chancellor for Literacy Achievement within the Florida Department of Education’s Division of Public Schools. She previously held roles as Executive Director of Just Read, Florida! and Assistant Principal for Leon County Public Schools.
Brown earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Central Florida and a master’s degree in educational leadership and administration from Florida State University.

Maria Alba-Quesada
Maria Alba-Quesada is the Academic Director of Curriculum and Instruction at South Prep Scholars Academy. Her prior roles include serving as Principal of South Prep Scholars Academy and the Miami Community Charter School.
Alba-Quesada holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Barry University and a master’s degree in leadership of educational organizations from American Intercontinental University. She is currently pursuing a doctorate in higher education from Concordia University Chicago.
Meghan Collins
Meghan Collins serves as the Special Strategic Initiatives Director for the Florida Department of Children and Families. Previously, she worked as the Executive Staff Director and Director of Communications for the Florida Department of Education.
Collins earned her bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Louisiana State University.

The Council for Early Grade Success focuses on improving early learning systems, particularly in literacy, to ensure Florida’s children achieve academic success from the start of their education. The council works with state leaders, educators, and communities to implement evidence-based strategies that enhance educational outcomes.
