ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Watering restrictions in St. Petersburg have been eased following the recent water shortage.
The Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) has lifted the Modified Phase 1 Water Shortage Order for St. Petersburg, allowing residents to return to a twice-weekly watering schedule.
This means that those who use potable (city) water, private wells, or have private connections to surface water sources can now water their lawns two days per week, instead of just one.
Residents are reminded to adjust their irrigation timers accordingly and to check the city’s watering schedule at stpete.org/WaterRestrictions. Those living outside St. Petersburg city limits should consult their respective municipality or county for their current watering restrictions.

While reclaimed water users remain on a voluntary three-day-per-week schedule, they are encouraged to be “water wise” and limit watering to the cooler parts of the day to minimize water loss.
This easing of restrictions is a welcome relief for residents and a positive sign that the water shortage situation has improved. The city encourages everyone to continue using water responsibly to ensure a sustainable supply for the future.
