ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – An attempted carjacking outside a St. Petersburg restaurant took a dramatic turn Wednesday night when the intended victim turned the tables on the suspect.
Shortly after 8:00 PM, a couple arrived at the Crafty Crab restaurant on Tyrone Boulevard. The husband waited in the parked car while his wife went inside to pick up their order. A masked man then entered the vehicle and attempted to carjack the unsuspecting husband.

However, the victim, who was armed, pulled out his own gun and fired at the suspect. The suspect fled the scene, and the victim immediately called 911.
Police arrived to find the victim unharmed. The suspect, identified as 18-year-old Simon White, was later located at Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital, where he is being treated for a gunshot wound. He is currently listed in critical but stable condition.
Upon his release from the hospital, White will face charges of attempted carjacking and occupied vehicle trespassing.

Officers responded to reports of shots fired near 2901 Tyrone Boulevard North around 8:10 PM. Preliminary information indicates that an altercation took place at a vehicle, resulting in a young man sustaining a gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. His condition is currently unknown.
Police have confirmed that the suspected shooter remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. The investigation is active, and no further details are being released at this time.
