Governor Ron DeSantis has announced the appointment of three judges to serve on circuit courts across Florida, filling vacancies created by retirements and legislative actions.
Johnathan Lott Appointed to the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit Court
Johnathan Lott, of Fort Lauderdale, has been appointed to the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit Court. Lott has served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida since 2020 and previously worked as an Associate Attorney at Boies Schiller Flexner LLP.

He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and a juris doctor from the University of Chicago. Lott fills the vacancy left by the retirement of Judge Murphy.
Laura Moody Appointed to the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit Court
Laura Moody, of Rockledge, has been appointed to the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit Court. Since 2019, Moody has served as Chief Legal Counsel for the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.
Prior to that, she worked as an Assistant State Attorney for the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Florida and her juris doctor from Florida A&M University. Moody fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Maloney.

Darrell Hill Appointed to the Twentieth Judicial Circuit Court
Darrell Hill, of Labelle, has been appointed to the Twentieth Judicial Circuit Court. Hill has served as a County Court Judge for Hendry County since 2018 and was previously the owner of Darrell R. Hill, P.A.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and a juris doctor from the Cumberland School of Law. Hill fills the vacancy created by the enactment of HB 5401.
