SPRING HILL, Fla. – A heated argument between two brothers in Spring Hill ended in tragedy on Friday, when one brother fatally shot the other before taking his own life.
The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call around 11:25 a.m. from Anthony Coyle, who confessed to shooting his brother, Robert Coyle. Anthony informed the dispatcher that the firearm was in his bedroom and that he would be waiting outside for deputies to arrive.

Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the brothers’ mother, who recounted the events leading up to the shooting. She explained that Anthony and Robert had been engaged in a heated argument about Anthony’s frequent use of Robert’s vehicle. The argument escalated, and Anthony retrieved a firearm and shot Robert.
Tragically, after calling 911, Anthony informed his mother that he did not want to spend the rest of his life in jail and proceeded to shoot himself.

Both brothers succumbed to their injuries at the scene. The incident has been classified as a murder-suicide.
