A lucky Florida man, Newton Waldron, has claimed a $1 million prize from the Florida Lottery’s 500X THE CASH Scratch-Off game. The winning ticket was purchased at a Publix located at 17960 North Tamiami Trail in North Fort Myers.
Waldron of Fort Myers chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $640,000. The retailer will receive a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning ticket.

The $50 500X THE CASH Scratch-Off game offers a top prize of $25 million and has overall odds of winning at 1-in-4.23.
Scratch-Off games have been a significant contributor to Florida’s education funding, generating over $19.5 billion for the state’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund.
