HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – Residents in the Longboat and Little River areas can finally ditch the bottled water! The precautionary boil water notice issued on Friday, November 22nd has been lifted.
The boil water notice was issued after a water main break caused pressure in the Hillsborough County Water Resources Department (HCWRD) Northwest drinking water system to fall below safe levels. Thankfully, recent tests confirm the water quality is back to normal.
While the boil water notice is lifted, Hillsborough County Water Resources recommends flushing your taps for five minutes to ensure fresh water reaches all outlets. This includes faucets, showerheads, ice makers (discard the first batch of ice), and any other water-dispensing fixtures.

Original Report: Hillsborough County Water Resources has issued a precautionary boil water notice for approximately 427 customers in the Northwest drinking water system near West Hillsborough Avenue and West Longboat Boulevard.
The notice affects customers in the Longboat and Little River areas who experienced a temporary water service interruption due to a water main break. Service is expected to be restored by 8 p.m. today.
As a precaution, residents are advised to boil all tap water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, and washing dishes. A full rolling boil for one minute is sufficient. Bottled water can also be used as an alternative.

The boil water notice is a precautionary measure due to a drop in water pressure below the required regulatory level. While there is no current indication of contamination, water quality testing will be conducted. The notice will be rescinded once tests confirm the water is safe.
