Florida Gov. DeSantis Orders Flags At Half-Staff In Honor Of Palm Beach County Deputies

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. – The Palm Beach County community is grieving the loss of two deputies who died in a car crash on Thursday, November 21, 2024. Corporal Luis Paez and Deputy Sheriff Ralph Waller were killed in the tragic accident.

Corporal Paez dedicated his career to serving the community, starting as a Corrections Deputy in 1988 and later transitioning to a Motor Deputy, a role he held for over 20 years. Deputy Sheriff Waller served with the Royal Palm Beach Police Department before joining the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office in 2008.

To honor their sacrifice, flags will be flown at half-staff at all local and state buildings in Palm Beach County from 3:00 p.m. to sunset today, Friday, November 22, 2024, and from sunrise to sunset on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, the day of their funeral.

The community mourns the loss of these dedicated deputies and expresses its deepest condolences to their families and colleagues.
