WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Six people have been displaced from their home after a fire broke out early Friday morning in Winter Haven.
The fire was reported around 5:34 a.m. by a neighbor who saw flames coming from the back of a residence on 3rd Street NE. Two Winter Haven police officers were first on the scene and bravely entered the burning structure to rescue the occupants inside.
Firefighters arrived within minutes and contained the fire to the back of the house, preventing it from spreading to the front. The fire was quickly extinguished, but the back of the home, including the laundry room and kitchen, sustained significant damage.
The Red Cross is assisting the six displaced residents. There were no injuries to residents or first responders.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
