HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – A Hillsborough County mother has been arrested on child abuse charges after her 18-month-old baby was hospitalized with multiple injuries.

On September 15th, deputies responded to Brandon Regional Hospital to investigate a report of an infant with suspicious injuries. The baby was found to have wounds on his face, neck, and arm, as well as bruising behind the ear and on his thigh.

An investigation by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office revealed that the child’s mother, 27-year-old Alexis Hardacre, had repeatedly slammed the baby into his crib and used excessive force to restrain him on multiple occasions.

Hardacre admitted to causing the injuries, stating that she lost her patience when the baby refused to sleep during nap time.

“This case is gut-wrenching. No child should ever endure the pain and suffering inflicted on this innocent baby,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “We will always protect the most vulnerable members of our community and ensure those who harm them are held accountable.”

Hardacre was arrested on November 18th and charged with one count of Aggravated Child Abuse.
