HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – A 58-year-old sex offender, Robert Lewis Thibodeau, was arrested on November 13, 2024, for failing to report a change in vehicle ownership and resisting arrest.

Thibodeau, who was convicted in 1997 for lewd and lascivious acts with a minor, is required to register as a sex offender in Florida. As part of these requirements, he is obligated to report any changes in his address or vehicle ownership.

During a routine address verification, detectives discovered that Thibodeau had access to a travel trailer that was not registered in his name. Despite owning the trailer since September 2021, Thibodeau failed to report it to authorities.

When confronted about the unregistered vehicle, Thibodeau physically resisted arrest. He was subsequently taken into custody and booked into the Hernando County Detention Center.
