BRANDON, Fla. – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Aviation Section played a crucial role in apprehending a shoplifting suspect Wednesday night.
Around 11:00 PM, deputies responded to a shoplifting incident at Ed Morse Cadillac Brandon on Causeway Boulevard. A suspect had fled the scene, jumping a fence and disappearing into a nearby swamp.

The Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit was called in to assist. Using their FLIR camera system, the crew quickly located the suspect hiding in the swampy terrain. With aerial guidance from the helicopter, deputies on the ground were able to close in and make the arrest.
“Thanks to the quick thinking and teamwork of our deputies and Aviation Section, we were able to arrest a suspect safely and without incident,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “This successful operation highlights the dedication and skill of our team in protecting the community here in Hillsborough County.”
