HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – A student at Armwood High School was arrested today after being found in possession of a handgun on school grounds.

At approximately 11:05 a.m., the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) School Resource Deputy assigned to Armwood High School received an anonymous tip about a female student possibly carrying a firearm.

A swift administrative search confirmed the report, revealing that 15-year-old Salet Arias-Gort had a handgun in her backpack.

Arias-Gort was taken into custody and faces charges of:

  • Minor in Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Firearm on School Property
