Big Pine Key Man Arrested On Multiple Firearms And Drug Charges: Monroe County Sheriff

MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – A 35-year-old man was arrested Tuesday after a search warrant revealed multiple firearms and drug paraphernalia at his residence.

Shaun Michael Zelko was initially stopped by the Sheriff’s Office at approximately 9:22 a.m. on Blimp Road and U.S. 1. Zelko had an outstanding warrant for failing to register as a convicted felon in Monroe County.

During the stop, a loaded Glock .380-caliber handgun was found in his vehicle.

A subsequent search of Zelko’s residence on Ranger Avenue uncovered the following:

  • Ruger .22-caliber rifle
  • Arminius .38-caliber handgun
  • Remington .22-caliber rifle
  • CVA .22-caliber rifle

In addition to the firearms, deputies also found multiple pipes, a digital scale, and a plastic bag that field-tested positive for cocaine.

Zelko was arrested on the outstanding warrant and faces additional charges including five counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of drug paraphernalia. Further charges may be pending related to the possible illegal alteration of serial numbers on the firearms.

Zelko was booked into the Monroe County Jail.
