Pittsburgh Resident Admits To Illegally Attempting To Purchase Firearm

PITTSBURGH, Penn. – A Pittsburgh man has pleaded guilty to violating federal firearms law by attempting to purchase a gun despite being a convicted felon.

38-year-old George Sotiris Vlastos admitted to making false statements on a Firearms Transaction Record (ATF Form 4473) in an attempt to acquire a firearm.

Federal law prohibits convicted felons from possessing firearms or ammunition.

Vlastos entered his guilty plea before United States District Judge Cathy Bissoon. He faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. His sentencing is scheduled for April 2, 2025.
