Republican U.S. Senator Rick Scott secured his fourth statewide election win on Tuesday, with U.S. House incumbents from both parties retaining their seats, solidifying Florida’s status as a Republican stronghold.

“This is a team win. We won, they lost,” Scott declared at his victory celebration at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort and Spa in Bonita Springs.

Scott, who served two terms as governor before his 2018 election to the Senate, hinted at his aspirations for a Senate leadership role.

“Florida has become a center of the Republican Party in this country,” Scott said. “Washington could learn a lot from what we’ve accomplished here in this great state.”

Scott, a former healthcare executive, invested $24.5 million of his own money into his campaign, adding to the substantial personal funds he has used in previous races.

His opponent, former Congresswoman Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, focused her campaign on issues such as rising housing costs and protecting abortion rights but faced challenges gaining traction.

Scott declined to debate Mucarsel-Powell, framing her as a “radical socialist” aligned with former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
