A Mississippi woman is facing serious charges after allegedly making a “suicide pact” with her 10-year-old daughter that resulted in the child overdosing on medication and requiring hospitalization.
The incident occurred on July 6th at a Motel 6 in Ocean Springs. Police responded to a call about an unresponsive child and found the 10-year-old girl surrounded by empty pill bottles. The pills were reportedly prescribed to the girl’s mother, Brittany Hensley, 37.

Both Hensley and her daughter were taken to the hospital, and the child was later airlifted to USA Children’s and Women’s Hospital. The girl has since recovered and is now in the custody of Mississippi Child Protective Services.
Ocean Springs Police Chief Ryan Lemaire stated that Hensley allegedly made a suicide pact with her daughter, but only the child ingested the pills. Hensley reportedly panicked when her daughter became unresponsive.

After being released from the hospital, Hensley fled Mississippi. She was located and arrested in Huntsville, Alabama, on October 15th on a warrant for felonious child abuse. She has been extradited back to Mississippi and is currently being held on a $500,000 bond.
