Student In Stable Condition After Shooting Herself On School Bus In St. Petersburg

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – A female student was injured in a self-inflicted shooting on a school bus in St. Petersburg this afternoon.

The incident occurred at the intersection of 49th Street North and 18th Avenue. Police officers responded to the scene and found the student with a gunshot wound.

The student, who was the only individual in possession of the firearm, was transported to All Children’s Hospital. No other students were involved or injured in the incident.

Police say the child is in stable condition.

The St. Petersburg Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including how the student obtained the firearm and brought it onto the school bus.
