LAKELAND, Fla. – A Lakeland man’s attempt to deceive a Polk County Sheriff’s deputy took a turn for the worse when his questionable disguise and a stash of meth landed him in jail.

47-year-old Rick Schram was stopped while riding his bicycle in Lakeland on Wednesday. Upon being approached by the deputy, Schram presented a driver’s license that clearly belonged to someone else – a 30-year-old Hispanic woman, to be exact.

Perhaps he thought a simple change of age, race, and gender would go unnoticed.

Schram attempted to explain away a collection of debit and credit cards he claimed to have “found,” but this failed to convince the deputy, especially given Schram’s extensive criminal history, which includes burglary, theft, and dealing with stolen property.

And if that wasn’t enough, a search revealed methamphetamine hidden inside Schram’s hat.

Schram was arrested and charged with possession of meth and drug paraphernalia, as well as unlawful possession of personal identification. The investigation into the suspicious cards is ongoing.
