BROOKSVILLE, Fla. – A search warrant executed at a Brooksville residence has landed a convicted felon in jail on multiple drug and weapons charges.
On October 29th, the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office Vice and Narcotics Unit searched a home on Jacqueline Road, where they found Richard Kessler already detained by deputies on an unrelated burglary charge.
Inside the residence, deputies discovered methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and ammunition. Kessler is a convicted felon, stemming from a 2021 drug possession charge, making it illegal for him to possess ammunition.

Kessler now faces a slew of charges, including:
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (3 counts)
- Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Sell (2 counts)
- Sale of methamphetamine (2 counts)
- Sale of Fentanyl
- Possession of Structure/Conveyance for the Sale of Controlled Substance (2 counts)
- Unlawful Use of a Two-Way Communication Device (2 counts)
- Possession of a Controlled Substance
- Possession of Ammunition by a Felon
He is currently being held at the Hernando County Detention Center on a bond of $195,500.
